Nanny Cay Marina, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, Friday 9 April 2016.

After a great stay in Simpson Bay I departed for an overnight passage in convoy with Viva, old friends from the ARC, through the 4pm bridge and out across the Sombrero Passage towards Tortola. Pleasant night with little traffic and Viva in sight most of the time. Slowed down as the wind fell so through the Salt Island pass about 10am and into the Fort Burt marina late morning and I picked a buoy. Then a walk into Road Town, the capital of Tortola to clear customs and supper in the Pub. Moved round to Nanny Cay marina the next day and settled in. My slip (berth) on A22 was close to the entrance, showers, beach, bar, restaurant and pool. Very clean and friendly but quite a few charter boats made it busy. Took the ferry from West End over to Charlotte Amelie, capital of St Thomas on the USVIs to get my US visa. You have to arrive with a valid return ticket on a commercial flight or ferry . Then return and you can then clear your boat in. So I should be set for coming back at the end of April for loading on the cargo ship. Made plans for a two week sojourn around the BVIs including joining up with old friends from the Cruising Association and my birthday celebrations.
