Departed Ares in calm sunshine on 20 July after a relaxing few days and dinner aboard Eupraxia. Motored across the Ria and past the Torre de Hurcules into the Real Club Nautico de la Coruna. Just in the middle of the ancient city below the yacht club. I had booked a berth but it was not crowded. I had a week there to explore the city, reprovision, check the boat and wait for Jacqui to arrive from Brisbane which she duly did. She had a day in La Coruna seeing the sights and drinks in the yacht club with the Believe and Delphinus crews before leaving early on 29 July for Camarinas. Sloppy but brisk sail along the coast with gusts of 30 knots but swell flattened as we went into the Ria de Camarinas and anchored off a little beach away from it all for a couple of days then into the tiny marina for the hotspots of the town. Drinks with Liam and Liz from Oddessy and up the mast the next day to release the broken fog horn.
My highlights:
Fishing boats in Ares.
Eupraxia anchored off Ares. Discovery 55 with all mod cons. John and Sandra heading south and booked in for the ARC 2015. Miles will be joining them in Gran Canaria so will meet up again.
Torre Hurcules, the oldest light house in the world.
Marineda City. Third largest shopping Mall in Europe. Found some good shorts and shirts (Pedro del Herro) to smarten up.
Fish everywhere in the marina but impossible to catch.
Camarinas anchorage
Odessey with Camarinas in the background.
